UAB nurses refusing to clock in (live video)

of the 1200 people that have died of covid in this state since april, 100+ have been fully vaccinated. i think the vaccine has some marginal success in preventing death, but without knowing the infected population n we really can’t know how effective they are.

i say that as someone who is vaxxed and encourages people to get it. it’s just not the silver bullet people make it out to be. it hardly even prevents infection.

You consider an 11 to 1 ratio “marginal success?”

So 10x more likely to die if not vaxxed but vax doesn't help prevent death? Also, from what I understand, the avg age of vaxxed deaths is exponentially higher than unvaxxed deaths. I understand what you are saying but it's a big time stretch imo.

One of my best friend’s wife is a nursing director at one of the major hospitals in bham (don’t wanna say which one of the 3). She said so many of her nurses are unvaccinated and it’s been a struggle because so many are getting covid. It’s causing major staffing issues with them being out 2-3 weeks (because they’ve gotta test negative before returning).

Stranger thing to me is they see so many people in really bad shape and then the deaths. With the vast majority of their ICU patients and deaths being people that are unvaxxed.

I’m all about choice but I find this so bizarre.
Yeah if those damn nurses would’ve only got vaccinated, they wouldn’t catch that china virus. Just ask the missing coach tonight.

They want more of what they want, and less of what they don't.

I do think healthcare workers should have been considered for some hazard pay. They’re getting worked into the dirt. Especially once you’ve seen behind the curtain, and just how much money the federal government was blowing in regards to all things covid.

Did she say why so many were deciding against the shot? Seems like this would go against the narrative being pushed by the medical world, this making it an interesting story. Not only that, but it might even sow some seeds of doubt for others.
The MDs are the ones you need to follow. They are all getting the shot. I certainly wouldn’t go with what nurses do, as they don’t have much background in biology, chemistry etc. They were trained to give shots and be nice to patients

LOL. Wow. Take a lap bro.
It’s not to prevent, it’s to help keep those infected from being hospitalized or worse….death. As in, take the damn load off the healthcare system that’s been overworked since Feb 2020.

  • A new CDC reportTrusted Source shows that since July 26, there have been only 6,587 reports of breakthrough infections that resulted in hospitalization or death among 163 million fully vaccinated people — a percentage of 0.01 percent or less.

Talked to a local Nurse in columbus, holy shit at the overtime their paying to keep staff coming in. $400+ a shift in bonuses.

Not surprising. The amount of GDP that goes into the US healthcare system is crazy--both in terms of percent of GDP (around 17-18%), and compared to per capita spending of other countries with the most developed economies. To put that GDP percentage into perspective, the highest US Defense spending since 9/11 was around 4.5% of GDP, and has averaged around 3.5% since. Good thing those Army grunts making $25k/yr can't refuse to clock in over working conditions...and soon they won't be able to refuse the covid vaccine either.

I hope it isn’t related to what this guy was tweeting about…

It’s almost like millions of people refusing to get vaccinated, tens of thousands being hospitalized weekly & thousands dying daily have led to completely predictable catastrophic outcomes in our healthcare system.
Effing sad

Lol. Did you even read the article?

Big facts. I’m pro vaccine but nothing is going to help you more than being in shape… as I stuff a footlong sub in my mouth.

(going to the west coast has thrown me off. I’m not eating in the morning and then I’m starving at night. I feel so fat.)

Marginal? What is the average age of the vaxed deaths?

Leverage will not be there much longer as this spike is peaking. Get it while its hot IMO.

I agree with your opinion. It’s a choice but still. I have friends that are nurses and are not vaccinated. I am. But in addition I am diabetic. But I also respect individual choices. I have my views but I’m not going to be a socialist liberal and impose my beliefs upon you until you cave in. Just saying it’s up to you.

What about the radical Republican conservatives that try to impose their beliefs? You can’t just say socialist liberal and not include the other extreme. Both are insufferable.

That’s where I am at. I’ve been vaccinated, and I’ll encourage anyone who listens to do the same. Outside of that, it seems like this issue will eventually work itself out one way or another. You’ll either get natural antibodies, get them through a vaccine, or die. Wasn’t worth the gamble to me.

this. covid isn’t going away and it’s a virtual certainty every person on earth is going to get it some point.

My 74 yr old fully vaccinated father in poor health almost died from Covid related issues this weekend. He is actually in UAB hospital as I type this, so this really pisses me off that they would take their time away from giving patients the attention they need to complain about pay. Luckily, is off of the vent, out of ICU, and appears to be on the upswing. But he has two blood clots that were more than likely thrown due to the body’s inflammatory response to the virus. He’s not out of the woods yet.

Being a nurse is like being an offensive lineman. All the dirty work for none of the recognition. But they knew this going into the job. They need a different platform than putting peoples’ lives at stake.
