Best Irons?

I'm hoping we have some knowledgeable golfers here. I am on the lower side of a mid-handicap (depending on the time of year and my free time I am a 11-14). I have currently played with two different sets Ping 425 (new set is 430) and the 2023 Taylor Made Stealth's (was not a huge fan). I am going to demo a set of Titleist 350's on Thursday and a set of Taylor Made Qi's on Friday. Anybody got any suggestions or recommendations? I am not overly concerned with price, they can be $600 or $1300 as long as I enjoy them, they will get plenty of use. TIA

BASEBALL Irish, Belyeu earn All-SEC honors

The Southeastern Conference announced its 2024 SEC baseball awards Monday with Ike Irish earning First Team All-SEC honors and Cade Belyeu being named to the Freshman All-SEC Team.

Irish earned a spot as the designated hitter/utility player and becomes Auburn’s second position player to earn first-team honors since 2011, joining Sonny DiChiara (2022) on the short list. He was previously named to the Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List and Buster Posey Award Watch List.

A sophomore from Hudsonville, Michigan, Irish led the Tigers in average (.319) and RBI (59) and tied for the team lead in home runs (14). His 59 RBI were tied for the eighth most in the conference and tied for the fourth most by an Auburn player since 2010. Along with his production at the plate, Irish tied for third in the league with nine runners caught stealing and added an outfield assist. He started 24 games at catcher, 11 games as the designated hitter and 10 games in right field.

Irish became the fourth fastest player in program history to record his 100th career hit earlier this season, doing so in his 68th game played with a first-inning homer against UConn on Mar. 2. He trails only Scott Pratt (61 games), Todd Faulkner (63 games) and Tim Hudson (66 games) on the list.

After coming off the bench for the first month and a half of the season, Belyeu ended up hitting .284 in 38 games and 26 starts in his first season on The Plains. Fifteen of his 27 hits were for extra-bases, leading to his team-best .632 slugging percentage, and he tied for third on the team with eight home runs in fewer than 100 at-bats.

Six of Belyeu’s eight home runs came in SEC play, good for the third most on the team. He hit five home runs in a six-game span at the end of the season and homered in four straight games at Missouri and vs. Alabama, becoming the first Auburn player since 2008 to hit a homer in four straight league games. The local product reached safely in 24 of the last 25 games played, including a team-best 19 straight games from Mar. 30-May 10, and led the team with a .437 on-base percentage during the span.

More bad news for UA

All in all, just not getting it done as a leader, from execution to innovation to company culture.

And this week it once again blew up in his face in the form of a shocking earnings release and outlook.

Fourth fiscal quarter sales tanked 5% from the prior year. Sales in North America plunged 10%. International sales were down 7%. Wholesale sales (aka sales to department stores and other partners) fell 7%. E-commerce dropped 8%. Apparel sales down 1%. Footwear sales down 11%. Accessories sales down 7%.

By comparison, Lululemon's (LULU) sales in the most recent quarter rose 16%. Sales in its Americas division advanced 9%.

Under Armour's share price has plunged 87% since its 2015 record. This is a $6.71 stock now! The company's market cap stands at a paltry $2.90 billion, versus $42.3 billion for Lululemon and $138 billion for Nike (NKE).

"Several of the initial inputs to the turnaround strategy add some comfort (new $500 million buyback, 25% SKU reduction, new cost cut initiatives). However, many elements of the plan seem dependent on UAA achieving a degree of success in product innovation we haven’t seen in years," wrote Evercore ISI analyst Michael Binetti in a client note.

Oof -- it makes you wonder why Auburn wasn't just leaving UA, but running away as fast as it could.

Drivel season?: can someone NOT #IGNORED by Archie see if he’d share his current roster with da bunk?

Ole 73 on it for awhile. Kinda hurts as he’s one of the few fellow oulde ouldes.

Anyway I’m curious about how many others comprise the list. Mostly due to his periodic references posting something that may have already been posted by someone on his list.

Raw number would be fine although it would be interesting to see the list of shame

TIA

HOOPS Bruce Pearl quick notes (5/20)…

We spoke to Bruce Pearl this afternoon before his charity golf tournament at Willow Point in Alex City. Here’s a summary…

** He likes the fit of Ja’Heim Hudson with the three other bigs and that he’s not coming in feeling like he’s entitled to play a certain number of minutes. Nickname is turtle and Pearl joked about his big shoulders and short neck.

** The next eight weeks after Memorial Day will be crucial to team coming together. Wants Chad Baker to put on 10 good pounds this summer.

** Still looking for a guard to finalize roster. Can be a 1-2 or a 2-3. Wants Denver playing more point. If they add a 2-3, Pettiford could get time at point too.

** Pearl likes how Pegues fits into offense with their talented bigs. Guard play was middle of the league last year and wants it better in 24-25. Wants his guards to defend better, shoot a little better and finish better on tough shots at the rim.

** Chaney is going to work hard on his ball handling this summer. Wants to make sure his turnovers don’t go up too much with additional touches, and wants him to be a better passer.

** Dylan is an excellent defensive big. Is working to increase his range on offense but won’t incorporate into a game until/unless it’s efficient.

** He’s still not over Yale loss and is going to continue to talk about it and use it as motivation through the fall.

*****That’s all*****

Ellington Scout was born Saturday May 18th, 2024 at 6:39 a.m.
We had a C section after around 16 hrs of early labor. My wife was induced 3 weeks early due to early stages of hypertension. She did an amazing job throughout the pregnancy, and courageously 6 ibs Ellington came to us.
As I sit here with her sleeping on my chest, (giving momma 10 extra min before I have to wake her for a feed) I just reflect how lucky I am. This is the greatest moment of my life and the best feeling. Momma is an amazing women and we are so happy to have a new Tiger fan. Love the bunker Login to view embedded media
