HOOPS Bruce Pearl quick notes

And now we're talking to BP after his team won 102-70

  • "I can't begin to tell our fanbase how thankful I am to be the basketball coach here."
  • "I thought we played harder tonight than we did Sunday. We're still fouling too much... we've got to find a way to play aggressively without fouling."
  • Asked about Jahki: "He is so athletic and so explosive and he wants to be great. He has an energy, obviously -- we've got to teach him to play aggressively without fouling." Pearl said he's special and is very hard on himself.
  • On Miles Kelly: "You can see what a great shooter he is. The inside out game is important."
  • "Johni is a load inside."
  • Pearl said that they'll have 10 guys playing double digit minutes nightly
  • Asked about the Johni, Dylan starting lineup, he said that they'll vary up the starting lineups a bit this year, something they really haven't done in the past
  • Pearl said that they're treating it like a back-to-back and are practicing tomorrow morning
  • Pearl called Vermont "Yale-like." So.
  • "One of the things I like about our team is they play unselfishly... I thought we shared it pretty well."
That's all for Bruce

FOOTBALL The Latest on The Search, Vol. 2 (11-13-22)

John Cohen has been talking with more coaches.

We believe at least one of these conversations has taken “the next step” and we believe Auburn is getting close to extending a real, honest offer to become the next head coach.

We aren’t sure which coach could have received an offer. We will continue to search for reportable information.

SIAP - Jahki - One Shot, Overtime Elite on Prime video

Series on Amazon prime follows players going through this program in ATL and Jahki is one of them . Kid is troubled . pissed off and moping when he doesn’t get the ball (same body language that was seen against Vermont ) and fighting with teammates… hopefully Bruce can rehabilitate but he’s got a huge hill to climb.

They start focusing on his story about halfway through the first episode… It’s right after they finish a piece on the Thompson twins (that both went in the top five of the 2023 draft). Jahki was into with them throughout the series.

Episode 1 - Projected NBA stars Ausar and Amen Thompson work to quiet their haters and solidify their draft stock. Small-town TikTok star Eli Ellis joins OTE to prove he can play with the best. Jahki Howard, a gifted athlete, builds animosity toward two of his teammates. Coach Dave Leitao is tasked with managing flaring tempers during a game.

Episode 2 - Intense conflict leads to Jakhi's departure from his team. Trey navigates a personal tragedy. Eli tries to earn playing time while the Thompson twins prove they're NBA ready.

Was that the most nationally relevant/most impressive non-con win in AUMBB history?

I can't think of a better one off the top of my head. To do it the second game of the year, on the road - not their "home court" but a venue in the same city where they usually play a game every year, vs a probable #1 seed who many think is the best defensive team in the country, is incredibly impressive, imo. It was an exciting game played at a very high level. The kind of game you'd expect at the elite 8 level and up.

I was too young to remember any of Coach Sonny's teams, so I don't know if they had any games that would qualify. I know some of the Ellis teams played a few fairly high-profile OOC games, but I don't recall one of this magnitude. I don't think lebo had anything remotely close and I can't remember any other coaches in my lifetime.

I didn't really expect to beat Baylor early last year, but felt like we should be competitive with anyone after watching the game. I thought this team had a couple more pieces, but this would be an even tougher test. After tonight, I won't be convinced there's a game on the schedule that we can't win.

Did it work out better for Trump in the long-term that Democrats stole the 2020 election?

- Dems ended up having to take the blame for "global inflation" by default

- Dems had to partly take the blame for Covid since they didn't handle it any better than Trump

- No more weirdo Mike Pence as VP. The upgrade from weirdo Pence to JD Vance is astronomical.

- Trump had time to identify the enemies within and make sure they weren't anywhere near positions of power in his next term. Some would have lingered if he won 2020.

- Elon wouldn't have been as involved if Trump won in 2020. Now we have a guy who actually wants to take us into the future with a seat at the table. All these other billionaires would have been fine with the status quo for the next 100 years if it meant they were still making money.

- Baited Dems into thinking more far left policies were what people cared about

- Set Dems up for failure with timing of Biden's mental decline

So all in all....
