We cannot sit back and ASSUME that every case is Omicron. Unless there was specific testing done for a specific patient, there is no way to know for certain which strain they have. Folks get caught up in the media misinformation, but Delta and the other strains didn't just fall off of the face of the earth in a single day or week. If I had to guess, I think it's likely that most of the severe cases, hospitalizations and death are more likely to be Delta infections, not Omicron.
That same poster has now said someone else connected with his family is on a vent and about to die from COVID. If it really is Omicron, it's a super, duper rare occurrence to know two or more people who died, or are about to die from this particular strain.
