Gunshots at nats Padres game

Because he’s the king of fallacious arguments. He knows you won’t complete such a tedious task for the sake of winning a political debate on a sports message board, and in his mind an unwillingness to do so validates his flimsy argument.
I also get a chuckle from him asking to remove gun violence date from specific areas of the country. You can get any set of data to be what you want if you remove numbers at your choosing.

since you like math do this, take out the gun violence in the gun free zones such as Chicago, Gary, St. Louis, LA, Baltimore, Detroit… - and tell us where we rank in the world in gun violence.

also tell us how many times a year guns are used to protect innocent people. As well as the number of times guns are used to stop evil people.

then we can talk.
Are any of those cities "gun-free?" Are there any at all?

Pointing at any particular area in a vacuum as evidence of why gun laws don’t work is a fool’s game. The United States is a convoluted checkerboard of lax and strict gun laws. Relatively strict gun laws in Illinois means absolutely nothing when you can simply cross the state line into states like Wisconsin or Indiana which both have relatively lax gun laws.

Why don't you do it?

b/c I already have. We fall in the bottom 1/3 of gun violence in the world.

and the data on number of times guns are used in self-defense is easily googleable. If you can Google.

next.

by gun free I guess I actually mean cities that only outlaw legal gun ownership and good people owning guns. The criminals damn sure don’t follow the laws and the “progressive” cities turn a blind eye to the violence. Look at Chicago for example. But then they’ll blame law-abiding citizens.

You can't own a gun in Chicago?

eh…. The courts have hammered Chicago and Illinois the past 10 years, but they maintain some of the more restrictive laws in the country. Most rank them in the top five or seven. As of a 2017, Chicago had zero gun shops. You can buy a gun in Chicago but it is difficult and tedious. The incidence of legal ownership is low.

So it's a culture problem specifically in the US?
Yes, it’s a culture problem, Democrats will destroy a community, just look at all of the shithole communities and states that are run by them. Inner city Democrats contribute to the degradation of their communities by committing crime, using drugs and committing random acts of violence.

Lol. Check out all these GOP states rounding out the bottom 10 for poverty rate.

Oh would you look at that, here they are rounding out the top 10 for highest violent crime rates.

And would you look at that. Here they are rounding out the bottom 10 in education.

Please save the blue states with your glowing utopian policies.

The whole “my state is better than your state” or “my city…..” is really stupid.

Just like top X places to live lists are really stupid.

Almost every city will have heaven and hell. It depends where you live in said city.

Also depends on if there is enough in said city/area that you actually have access to. Whether that be based on wealth or another reason.

As to crime - depends what kind. If you’re in San Fran taking a walk in your neighborhood now, you better be aware. Most nicer areas in nicer cities don’t have crime problems to worry about other than common sense being aware. Being randomly murdered usually isn’t something that should be a reasonable concern.

Though, pray continue.

Right. IMO "shithole" isn't solely defined by crime rate.

again with the dumb shit. There’s a reason why people are fleeing the blue states and moving to the red states. It’s simply a better quality of life overall. And the violence? Yeah if you have a sparsely populated state with most of its population in a city like Atlanta, the crime rate in Atlanta can be through the roof and make the whole state look bad whereas outside the democratically controlled city the rates far lower. Is why California is not a high crime state even though it contains two of the higher crime cities in San Francisco and LA. There’s also a reason why jobs in the middle and upper class are fleeing California.

Break it down in the communities and cities in the picture gets a lot clearer and a lot more refined.

Americans are 10 times more likely to be killed by guns than people in other developed countries, a new study finds.

Compared to 22 other high-income nations, the United States' gun-related murder rate is 25 times higher. And, even though the United States' suicide rate is similar to other countries, the nation's gun-related suicide rate is eight times higher than other high-income countries, researchers said.

Seriously? The green line drops you right off at the stadium and there are tons of bars and restaurants right there too. It's quite safe. This whole event is pretty anamolous. When I lived in DC I used to bike down the Potomac and go to games
used to be that way. its a great stadium and the area is slowly gentrifying but the Wuhan put a hammer to it. dc is failing rapidly. Georgetown is gone and development has stopped at National Harbor. the casino isn't bringing in the element they wanted and without conventions it will fail . its a shame the only way to fix it is to drive the low income residents out and quadrable the police presence but there is no will for that

If gun ownership and possession are two different things (which I agree) then wouldn't that closely correspond to illegal vs legal purchasing? In other words, if I illegally purchase a gun on a black market and kill someone, that would be considered possession, not ownership. To me there is also no difference between someone stealing a gun and illegally purchasing a gun. I'm not sure if this is really pertinent though.
I don’t see how one who illegally purchases a gun does not own it.

I actually loved living in DC. I would imagine that it is a far superior place to the anaesthetic suburban hell most of you live in. Olive Garden the top option on door dash?

Somehow I highly doubt that "Georgetown," a neighborhood so racist they didn't want a metro stop because the "riff raff" could get in is "gone."

You may have mistaken my posting of factual statistics with me having taken a political position. I did not. I was only discussing mass shootings, not drive bys. I just answered a question that was asked. This isn't a left vs right problem or solution. To resolve the problem, you have to resolve stupidity. Unfortunately, there is a glut of that on the market right now.

its not riff raff , its overall flight from the city and the effects of the showdown. more than half the businesses are closed for good

mass shooting are an anomaly and account for almost zero percent of homicides. almost all gun violence is done by less than 5% of the population. its obvious and easy to fix. we as a nation are afraid to face the truth and take action. until you publicly identify the problem you cant fix it

I mentioned that in my initial comment. Mass shootings account for only a fraction of the bloodletting. Of course, the shock value gets all of the headlines and those sky high emotions spark the discussions. There are common sense approaches to fixing this but most of the country is hard left or hard right and that gets us nowhere.

What’s wrong with being anti social?
Seems like a kind of sad thing to think that every place with professional sports teams, theaters , awesome restaurants of all types (not just the one down the block), museums etc. is super dangerous

Oh I used to travel all the time to larger cities. I even lived in one. I traveled for work alone as a 22 year old female 90% of the time right out of college. I do think some of the larger cities are not as safe as they used to be (Buckhead as an example), but I’ll be happy to return when/if things calm down. We’re older now and are kind of looking to vacation away from other people anyway, so it doesn’t really matter all that much.

its common sense, why must everyone be a fool. To protect a few deadbeat career criminals why must everyone in the inner cities suffer. George Floyd was a human piece of excrement, the world is much better off with him gone, why is he being celebrated. Inner cities are hell where violence and fear run rampant. All crime goes unpunished, its wrong
@Jay G. Tate this guy is such a cancer
