Finally got back home and what a trip. Auburn represented well. To me, the key to the game was when Florida made their run in the second half, Bruce called a time out. We went into a matchup zone that effectively stopped UF's offense for several minutes. Golden knew his team was tired and couldn't hit the three so he had them driving to goal and either score, miss, or get fouled. It was effective until Bruce put a stop to it. That's coaching.
I was really impressed with Golden. You could tell he is really good friends with Bruce, Stephen, and Chad. He seems like a really good guy and it will be hard to not like that guy going forward.
The NCAA has turned college basketball into a one on one contest. You drive to the goal and there is little chance you will be called for an offensive foul. There are literally body blows from the guys hitting each other. The refs have a tough job.
The difference between the game and practice is real. I watched Aiden hit 9 out of 10 threes during warmups. The kid can shoot, he just needs to slow his clock down a little and he will be fine. I saw Dylan hit 3 threes in a row in warm ups. FYI, we are still undefeated when Dylan hits a three.
Tre's threes were daggers to jort wearers.
We've won 6 games in a row and if you think about it, we out played Tennessee. We didn't have anyone who could cover Knecht when he was on fire, but we out played Tennessee. Knecht just beat us. I like where we are, and where we can go. But as a famous doctor once said, "We just gotta keep getting betta."
