Thoughts from Vermont game ...

We were on last night, and even a 3/4 full Nev was enough to shell shock a veteran Vermont squad.

When we shoot like that and take care of the ball like that we won't lose.

This team has the talent to beat anyone in the country on a given night.

I would have liked to see us run our sets more and focus on getting the ball inside. Vermont was happy to stay inside the perimeter, so we did what you're supposed to do when defended like that, but still, I would have liked to see us work more deliberately in the half court. Kudos to the Vermont bigs though, especially the starter, can't recall name, he uses his body and long arms very well in defense.

Our defensive switching will improve in real time, but we gave up way too many wide-open looks. I went back and counted 7. Vermont just didn't hit them. Those are money against SEC and similar foes. If giving up OR leading to a kickout uncontested three was a stat, we'd be near the top. It's been a staple of the way Bruce's teams overplay. That's not criticism, just an observation. Our young ones got lost in traffic a good bit on defense.

I'll say this once, only once, and then never mention it again the rest of this season. WE CANNOT ROTATE 11. WE PROBABLY SHOULD NOT ROTATE 10. That is all.

Chaney Johnson is chiseled granite. I didn't see any flaws in his game last night. He will amply fill the hole left by JWill. I was concerned about that role. No longer. Dude is the man.

I think Haad is quicker than Rife was. He's twitchy. Tried to show off a little in the second half and got caught, he'll need to learn that won't work against some of the teams we'll play, and I'm sure he will. That said, dude has HANDLES. So nice to have a PG like that again.

I needed a 'cleanup on aisle [my shorts]' when Denver hit that transition stop and pop three. Bryce Brown-esque. A beautiful thing that we've not often had since. DIZZAM we have some smooth as silk shooters. Effortless, very little motion, gorgeous. They need to take biometrics of Kelly's shot and show it to kids learning the game everywhere. Artwork in motion.

Not sure how BP is going to keep this bunch happy with minutes, but I'm sure he'll try. I hope they all keep a good attitude about it. Team will be special.

Vermont couldn't body us, out-physical us. Houston will, and they'll get the calls. On Saturday I'm looking for mental and physical toughness. Can we persevere? Can we push through and keep our heads? I'm thinking of the muggings occurring in the Houston Bama game last year. Johni and CBM have to keep their heads.

Very much looking forward to grown ass man hoops on Saturday vs Houston. WDE

Conspiracy Theorists Unite

I talked to my guy who graduated from Ft Benning as a sniper about the assassination attempt. This guy is the guy, he served 32 months before being retired for presumed combat stress. He had many confirmed and worked for one of our governmental 3 letter organizations. He said the Secret Service was complicit to the assassination and that the shooter was a decoy. He said the real shooter was shooting suppressed (my apology to @Double Dees for me being wrong) and that the counter snipers on the building were for show. He said the real shooter was shooting a subsonic round from another location outside the perimeter at a known distance but the high wind drifted his bullet more than anticipated. He said the 100 ft flag was waving in the background and that takes a significant wind to do that. Shooting subsonic in a wind that big is not optimal because the slower bullet drifts more. He said the real shooter didn't have a spotter calling out windage to him. and needed to shoot subsonic to remain concealed. He said he would love to see the ballistics on the bullet that killed the firefighter because he suspects its from the real shooter. He said it wouldn't be a 5.56. Anytime something like this happens, he always says "OK, how would I have done it?" He said it's almost always exactly like he would plan. FYI, he told me Chris Kyle would be killed shortly before he was killed. From anyone else, I really wouldn't give this much thought but this guy is different. He knows his stuff.
