Well, I'm back. After a seven-day, seven-state journey, I returned home late last night. Glorious trip. Memories were made. Fish were caught. Money was won. Oh, and tires were blown.

My father (79) needed to visit Colorado, North Dakota and Montana to complete his 50-states-in-a-lifetime achievement. So, my brother, uncle, brother-in-law and myself made it happen.

We all flew into Denver last Wednesday, rented a motorhome and took off. We went north with the herd. We traveled through Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana, Wyoming and Idaho before returning to Denver. It was a 2,000-mile trek with five grown-ass men in a 31-foot RV. Needless to say, Cousin Eddie's words could be heard throughout the week: "Shitter's full."

In the Dakotas (there wasn't jack crap in Nebraska), we made stops at Mt. Rushmore, Deadwood (won $20) and Theodore Roosevelt National Park. We saw the Badlands. We saw the Black Hills. We then made our way west into Montana and traveled to Gardiner, a town a few miles north of the entrance to Yellowstone. We spent two nights there and fished the Lamar River in Lamar Valley inside the park. We caught cutthroat trout. We saw a grizzly and her cub. It was cool. Very cool.

We had a flat tire exiting our campsite in Gardiner. It took us three hours to get it repaired. It would've taken us longer (like 24 hours longer) if not for an Alabama fan, who generously helped us. We then traveled south and fished the Madison River in the park before spending the night in West Yellowstone (dipped into Idaho while seeing Quake Lake).

From there, we continued our travels south and into the Grand Tetons National Park. We fished Buffalo Fork creek, a tributary to the Snake River. My brother caught two nice-sized cutthroats there.

We then stayed the night in Jackson, Wy., before heading back to Denver. It was a long trip, a grand adventure. Seven states in seven days.

Grand indeed.

Sooooooo, I miss anything while I was gone?
