I am taking my step son to visit AU tomorrow for an overall tour of the school and Engineering dept. I am an Alum and we live in GA where he goes to school at Buford HS. I wanted to look up the out of state tuition/acceptance criteria, and after a quick google search found some interesting facts that I had no idea about.

Application requirements High school GPA, College prep courses, SAT/ACT scores (considered if submitted), and Recommendations (neither required nor recommended).

Factors that affect admission
  • SAT/ACT scores: Half of admitted students who submit test scores have an SAT score between 1240 and 1380 or an ACT score of 25 and 31.

  • GPA: Auburn considers GPA to be a very important academic factor. The school average GPA is 4.07.

  • High school class rank: Considered by admissions officials.

  • Letters of recommendation: Considered by admissions officials when available.
Admission statistics
  • In fall 2023, Auburn received a record number of applications, with over 48,000 freshmen applications.
  • 44% of early action applicants were accepted.
  • The average ACT score was 28.2.
  • The average GPA was 4.2.
For the 2024–2025 academic year, out-of-state tuition at Auburn University is $34,922 for undergraduates and $35,972 for the 2025–2026 academic year. This figure includes tuition and fees, also known as the sticker price.

HOLY SHEET!!! No way I could have gone to AU if it had been this way when I attended. (in the 80s)
