Four-star CB Adonis Otey visited Auburn for the BBQ on Saturday and said when he left that he planned to announce his commitment today. His finalists were Auburn, Arkansas and Louisville.

But Otey announced this morning that he'd had a change in plans.

Why?

One of two things. Either he wanted to commit to Auburn, but Auburn wasn't ready to take him. Or he was going to commit to either Arkansas or Louisville, but Auburn told him to wait.

As I wrote last week, Otey has been wanting to commit to Auburn for at least a month. He initially planned to announce to Auburn at the Rivals 5-Star Challenge. Auburn, however, was higher on others (Nehemiah Pritchett and Zion Puckett, and of course, Andrew Booth, now committed to Clemson). Auburn wasn't ready to take him.

Auburn remains higher on others (Puckett and Pritchett) with its main concern about Otey being his top-end speed. Auburn wants fast DBs. Very fast. And isn't sure Otey has the speed it's looking for right now. That could change and Auburn could take him, but apparently, it (still) isn't ready today.

UPDATE
Looks like Otey will be committing today, most likely to Arkansas (definitely not to Auburn).
