I am getting old-- I had a will drawn up several years ago by an attorney. My kids say I need to have a Trust drawn up and my assets put in the trust. This is to protect my assets in the event me or my wife had to go into a long term health care facility and medicare/medicaid would eventually come after my home and rental property. Does the trust have to be in place for 5 years to protect property?
