** Great day for Auburn. Excited about the class. Want to thank all the people involved, staff, coaches and players. Also the recruits and their families for believing in us.
** 16 signees, 8 mid-year enrollees. Signed 8 on defense, 7 on offense and one specialist. Had a fantastic environment, fun day as the signees were announced.
** Recruiting never ends. Another signing period that we'll continue to work toward. Wanted guys that were excited to be a part of this program.
** First focus in recruiting was to bring in the right people -- character counts. Our first chance to get out and meet people and families in person made a big difference. Having guys like Trovon Reed, Zac Etheridge, Carnell Williams and Kendall Simmons is important to share their Auburn experiences. T-Reed is high energy, a people person.
** Recruiting is different everywhere you are. Recruiting is the most important thing in the SEC, but I've always felt that way. You win with people. I think one of the big reasons guys were excited about our program is they got to see our gameday atmosphere. I got to witness firsthand how awesome it is to play in J-H. For us it's about focusing on Auburn and the vision and how guys fit. You're competing in the SEC. Got to make sure you're authentic.
** We got 16 new guys as part of our program and more to come. The new facility made a difference too. Guys want to be a part of that. They want to come in and help build it. Means you've got great team players.
** We lost a very good player in the secondary. That was a priority. The OL and DL will also be a priority. He goes on to mention all the positions. The DB staff did a great job of finding guys that can help us. Same with the WRs.
** On T-Reed being on the road: We had an opening so why not use him to help us. Trovon is from Louisiana and had a great experience here and he can talk on that. That story means a lot to recruits. He believes in Auburn and loves Auburn. The other coaches, even if they're not from Auburn, being here a year they understand how special this place can be.
** We'll evaluate our OL/DL after this process. There are some young guys on our team that haven't played that are getting better. That will be a factor going into 2nd signing period. We'll sign a couple of more OL and DL apiece either in high school or portal.
** On the finish, that's exactly how you hope it will happen. We built the momentum. Good players want to play with other good players. They want to be around guys that care about football. It's a life-changing decision. Feel like we have a great relationship with the guys in this class. The future players are going to see the guys that were a part of this and want to play with them. Hopefully, that momentum continues.
** It means something to get local players. There's a lot to be said for them and all five guys we signed from Alabama. We got great players from this state. I want every player in this state to feel like Auburn is the destination they want to be as a football player and a student.
** On Holden Geriner. Remains to be seen if that's the only QB we'll sign. Things have changed in that room. Holden played his best game in the state championship and won. All he's done is get better since he committed. Can't wait to get the eight guys here, the early enrollees. Holden is one.
** On going JUCO route: It's a little higher level of competition. It still goes back to right fit because that locker room is important. They've been in successful programs and worked hard. Those guys have a level of maturity.
