Hey now.
Several of y'all have asked for more details regarding how and when Auburn athletics will get back going after this 10-week layoff. I can offer some additional insight.
So the SEC ruled last week that athletes may resume voluntary training on June 8.
Auburn is planning* to have most football players and men's basketball players ready to go on June 8. The goal is to have those athletes working out at Auburn on the morning of June 8. We're told that a few football players won't be there for various reasons, but the overwhelming majority of players will be back on time. We're told that includes true freshmen who have gained NCAA clearance.
Of note, Auburn is planning* to have all athletes screened and tested for the virus before they begin working out on campus. This is different than the plan Arkansas unveiled earlier today, which didn't include widespread testing. Auburn athletes that test positive will be placed in a quarantine dorm (location TBA) for the mandated period. Everyone else starts working out.
Athletes from other sports will follow later in the month. The goal is to have every athlete who wants to be here cleared and active by July 1.
*Planning = This is uncharted territory for all athletic departments, so it's impossible to know exactly how everything will unfold. The plan may change. The testing paradigm may change. The timetable may change. As of this moment, however, this appears to be Auburn's plan.
