Jake Liker #3 bracketologist on bracketmatrix says…

Jake Liker ranked #3 on bracket matrix accuracy the past 5 years responded to a question I asked him when asking about Auburn jumping to a 3 seed.

“Thanks man I appreciate it! I’m glad you asked me this because I needed to work it out for myself anyway. My answer is: there’s nothing they can do, or at least I don’t think there is.

The committee already seeded the first four lines on Thursday, so the only way to jump to the three at this point is to get scrubbed up tonight, meaning Auburn would have to win a head to head vote against every single team that was above them as of Thursday until they reach the three.

If the committee had Kentucky above Auburn in the overall seed list on Thursday—and Im inclined to think they did—you’re stuck at the 4. Tigers would lose that vote since UK beat them in Auburn.

I think they got really unlucky with out the rest of the SEC bracket unfolded. They really could’ve used an opportunity to get a statement win on a neutral floor against Tennessee, Bama, or Kentucky.

If my inclination is wrong and Auburn was above Kentucky on Thursday, Tigers definitely have a shot to snag a 3 with a win tomorrow. I think they could beat Illinois, Alabama, and Kansas in head to head votes (especially if Illinois loses to Nebraska today)”

Sounds like it’ll be a long shot but let’s see how the bracket unfolds I think lunardi is pretty bad overall but has the espn platform behind him to push his credibility. For context bracketmatrix ranks Liker #3 while lunardi is #98

His hate for Auburn is so evident. Only bracket that I’ve seen where he has Utah St jump us for a 4 seed so he can keep us on the 5 line. The same Utah St that Lunardi has as a 7 (and all others have as a 5-7). Moves Kentucky and Illinois to 3’s and drops Kansas and Duke to 4’s.

Surprising KenPom stat, offensive rating

There were a handful of players who scored more than a 200 offensive rating at any point in games this season… this was before the SECT.

Cardwell - 4
CMo - 3
Chaney - 1
KD - 1
Denver - 1

An average rating is 100. We’ve had plenty of games where star players rated far below average, of course. The highest was a whopping 300 rating by CMo.

After the SECT, there were 3 more over 200… all were CMo. Nearly half of the best offensive efficiency ratings on the team were by the one guy most don’t care to have on the court. Pretty damn impressive and surprising!
