HOOPS Regarding Johni Broome in 2024-25

I made mention of this on the Brain Drain, but wanted to bring it here for pretty obvious reasons.

There is a move afoot to keep Johni Broome at Auburn for another season. Crazy, you say? Kinda. He’s already a first-team All-SEC guy and he made the AP’s third-team All-America team. He’s a pretty accomplished college basketball player and, well, those kinds of guys typically leave college ASAP. There is money to be made.

That is true for Broome as well, but is the NBA interested in him? It sounds like he’s a second-round guy, which adds significant complexity to making a team and making bank.

I believe there is an NIL number large enough to get Broome to stay at Auburn for another season.

Auburn, obviously, would love to have Broome back. So this will be something to watch in the coming days and perhaps weeks as the coaching staff does its best to figure out its roster.

What will get you excited for next bball season?

1) The transfer PG is so good that both PG’s leave because he’s going to play 27-28 min. Play the freshman behind him and DJ.
2) Broome stays.
3) Cardwell stays.
4) Get a very good 4 but may be asking too much. If Cardwell leaves, make it a big 4 that can play some 5.

I’m just assuming CBM, CJ and DJ are all staying.

A new baby Hoff & my new favorite Auburn story

Baby Boy Hoff #2 arrived yesterday. He’s handsome and healthy as you’d expect.

The best part is on the way to the hospital, I picked up a Mega Box of Topp’s baseball cards to open with BBH1 during the hospital stay. My late Momma Hoff nerded out on cards back in the day, so it also served as a way to have her with us.

So, while Misselhoff got her epidural started, I ripped open a pack and found this bad boy, one of Topp’s special 1989 series…

If that ain’t a good omen, I don’t know what is! War Eagle fAUmbly and I will teach my boys to treat yore lil girls with an appropriate mix of respect and humor.

THE RUNDOWN PRESENTED BY VOODOO WING COMPANY (3/26/24)
Bryan Matthews, Caleb Jones, Brian Stultz, Henry Patton and Jay G. Tate reconvene at the (old) athletics complex to discuss important happenings in and around the Auburn program, which includes a crushing basketball defeat at the hands of Yale.

First, though, we open with some chatter about Auburn's work so far in spring football. Caleb then jumps in to highlight six recruits who have visited campus of late — including an impactful quarterback who seems to really like the Tigers.

The guys then delve into the Tigers' tough loss to Yale and what it means going forward. What happens to this roster? How do they augment it? What will they do at point guard?

There are so many questions.

The guys also review a generally unfun week on the diamonds.

The show ends with a sizable collections of commendations and shoutouts for the most outstanding members (this week) from The Bunker community. Great folks and a great community!

The show is presented by VooDoo Wing Company with locations in Auburn, Mobile, Tuscaloosa, Florence, Charlotte and Las Vegas. Check them out IN PERSON for delicious chicken or on the web at www.voodoowingco.com.
