SEC Player of the Week – Auburn forward/center Johni Broome, a 6-foot-10, 240-pound senior from Plant City, Fla., averaged 16.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.5 blocks in wins over Vermont and against No. 4 Houston. Broome began the week with 12 points and seven rebounds against America East Conference preseason favorite Vermont. He followed that up with 16 points on 10-of-15 (66.7 percent) shooting from the field, eight rebounds, five blocks, three assists and two steals against Houston.

SEC Freshman of the Week – Texas guard Tre Johnson, a 6-foot-6, 190-pound freshman from Garland, Texas, averaged 28.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals against Ohio State and Houston Christian. He shot 55.3-percent (21-38) from the floor, including a 55.6-percent mark (10-18) from three-point range, and 71.4-percent (5-7) from the free throw line. Johnson set the school record for most points (29) in a freshman debut against Ohio State. He then returned to post 28 points (11-18 FG, 5-8 threes, 1-2 FT) against Houston Christian.

And that’s rare for Bruce. He loves his rotations. But he saw greatness and let it keep rolling. I think that decision won us the game.

What a damn win.

The sets down the stretch to get Broome the ball in good spots were magnificent.

With Towns McGough struggling and costing Auburn momentum in two recent losses, Hugh Freeze is reconsidering his options on fourth down.

Being down by nine points on the road against Houston can feel like a 20-point deficit, but Auburn found a way to overcome that.
I wrote about how Tahaad Pettiford pushed pace and how that changed the game, the Tigers forcing Houston to beat them with advanced passes, and the offensive masterclass Mike Burgomaster put on in the second half:

Because that’s all any coach at Auburn cares about. Hew has been prepping for them all year…that’s why we lose to lesser opponents. He knows he’ll have a job at Auburn as long as he accomplishes that. He probably figured he would only prep for that game in the first 1-3 years until “his team” is up to par. Just wait and watch…you’ll see a completely different team for the iron bowl. If we lose Deuce Knight and lose to Bama…he’s toast.

He gives those terrorist POSs money to use and they build satellites that the Russians launch for them. Trump has a huge Iranian mess to clean up.

I have a feeling Hugh thinks this is a good way for him to have less game planning time committed for the week. And it would explain a lot of the confusion on critical downs/confusion between Payton and Hugh.

Auburn will have a night game in Jordan Hare Stadium to conclude its home slate for the 2024 season. Kickoff will be at either 6:30 p.m. or 6:45 p.m. CST against the Fighting Aggies.

Anyone know the Auburn sections for our game against Ohio State on December 14?

Or at least know if we are sitting on the Visitor or the Home bench?
