Residents packed into the police jury chambers on Monday, November 4, for what was a standing-room only gathering. People were lined up outside the chamber doors to hear what their neighbors had to say.
The special Acadia Parish Police Jury meeting happened at the Acadia Parish Courthouse in Crowley. Many people in the area said they do not agree with the move to allow the new club. A piece of property along Branch Highway will soon be home to "Fantasies." Groundwork has already started, but residents of the small town do not want it in their community.
"We just don't need that stuff around here,” said Michael Hundley. “We got eight children. We have grandkids. Everybody out here has kids. It's just not something we want to see out here."
"There's no need and no want for that in this area," added Katherine Hundley.
