Most of the season, I recall nearly unanimous dissatisfaction with Thorne’s play, and it seemed to be assumed we’d recruit over him through the portal.
Fast forward to the end of the season. Any talk of replacing Thorne is not only dismissed but ridiculed, and nearly all the blame is placed on the receivers.
Was it because the Alabama game was close and should have been won? I went back and watched that game minus the last few minutes. Thorne made some good plays in the running game and a few good throws. But nothing about that game indicated he had really turned a corner, especially considering how poorly he played the week before against NM State.
I know we’re not looking at another QB. I’m just curious how thoughts about Thorne changed so quickly.
