For those not familiar, Dr's Couch and Ruan ran a pain management clinic in Mobile. Couch founded the clinic. When Ruan was brought in as a partner he helped convert the clinic into one of the most active pill mills in the country. They established their own pharmacy on site and passed out scrips for highly addictive opioids like they were handing out candy. Couch developed a substance abuse problem and several of the staff were using heavily on the job and were writing most of the prescriptions from pre-signed prescription pads.
If someone actively decides to inject themselves with heroin and becomes an addict I have less sympathy for them, but in this case, these so called doctors were creating addicts in mass and ruining lives and families. At least these pos's got real sentences of 20 and 21 years. I'll never understand how some doctors and politicians sell their souls for money and power while helping the big pharma lobby create an opioid addiction problem in this country.
