Just out of AF Combat Crew Training flight school in Merced, CA and was driving back to Robins AFB, GA by myself in '87 no GPS, no cell phones or any damn thing. Stopped in to that pisshole Ft Bliss in shithole El Paso. Was hungry and thought if you want Mexican food, drive in to Mexico. Dollar was strong and I was hungry and was armed with 2 years of high school spanish. Drove in to Juarez and finally found what looked like a steak place. Had good meal and had to find my way back to border at night and then to Bliss. WTF was I actually thinking... could have gone missing and not a soul would know where i was or anything. Not sure if there would have been any record at border crossing in to MX.
Oh, second stupidest thing was marrying the girl I was hustling back to see.
TLDR: I wonder how but for God's grace am I alive after this episode.
