Gus and Rod are in the studio this week since Auburn is going on the road four days from now. I don't understand the correlation, but that's not for me to understand.

** On the LSU win: "0-for-13 on third downs? I don't know if I've ever heard of that."

** Did he see that coming: "We've had some good practices ... probably the last three weeks. A lot of teams around the country will stop working. We can't do that."

** Rod says teams can't lose their edge. "We're just taking it one week at a time."

** Rod says most of the players were healthy. "We were very concerned going into the week. Hopefully, we'll get (Pat Miller) back fairly quick."

** More on LSU: "It was very good to play a quality opponent at home. Our crowd was unbelievable."

** Rod says getting off to a fast start is a good idea. "We worked really hard on getting off to a fast start."

** Rod says Nick was good. "He had some passes early that really helped it -- they opened some things in the run game."

** On the OL: "In their defense, we've moved people around a lot. We're a team that gels. I really feel like we have a chance to get better."

** John/Jon from the emails wants to know about WR health: "It benefits our entire offense. (Coates) made those two big plays in the first quarter. That really changed the dynamics of the whole game."

** Rod says Sammie had to go get that TD pass. ($1 to T.I.): "It was a big-time play."

COMMERCIAL BREAK TWO (the first one was before we heard anything of value)

** Rod says Daniel Carlson earned SEC special teams POW. We know this. Now Gus knows. I'm sure he's amazed. "He's off to an excellent start. He punted the ball well, too."

** Rod reports that Carlson hit two long FGs. Rod says those easily could have ended up being big. I'm laughing and can't write.

** Rod wants to know why Carlson is good: "He's very meticulous."

** Derek/Derrick from Eufaula wants to know about Gimel President. "He's gotten better in fall camp, each practice. He's a tough guy, does a lot of dirty work that doesn't get noticed."

** On President: "He's strong at the point of attack. He has some skills to get off blocks and make some plays."

** Rod says Danzey played well. "It really just helps us depth-wise moving forward."

** Rod wants to know about injuries. "We made it through pretty good."

** GUS SAID PAT MILLER PRACTICED SUNDAY.

** Some dude wants to know about CoGrant. "He's gotten a lot better. On the edge, he's somebody to deal with."

** Rod is laughing about CoGrant's hit on that late run. Concussions are hilarious!

"Corey is one of our strongest guys, pound for pound."

** Rod says he must have Gus talk about Cam Artis-Payne. Gus said what you think he'd say. "He's really settling into our offense."

** Rod wants to know what Gus did on Sunday. They graded film. Did corrections. Introduced Mississippi State. Got the game play together.

THIRD COMMERCIAL BREAK

** Rod can't remember this division being this tough. Every game has huge stakes! "Every team ... is a very good team. It seems like there's even more at the top."

** Gerald in Daphne wants to know about H Back. Can it be improved? "Fulse has done a soild job. He's a very physical guy at the point of attack." (He also said something nice about CJ.)

** "Both of these guys have the ability to stretch the field down the field."

** Somebody wants to know about DAK PRESCOTT: "I'm very impressed with him."

** Is he like Cam? "There are some similarities. He's big and physical."

** Some dude wants to know about the defense. Adjustments last week? "We were preparing for the young quarterback. We thought they'd do more shotgun stuff, but they ran their traditional offense."

** Rod says Ellis Johnson has been making keen adjustments. "He's seen everyone offense known to man."

** Some dude wants to know about Ruffin's availability. (He'll be good to go in Starkville.) "It was a tough hit. It was a bang-bang deal. It's unfortunate. He'll be better the next time. A lot of freshmen wouldn't be in that position, be physical. Some freshmen get out there and it's natural for them."

** Rod says Stephen Roberts also is good. "He wants to be out there. He wants to be out there in the battle."

** Rod says Cass McKinzy played well despite being injured. "Him and Kris, both those guys are play-makers. He did an excellent job without much practice during the week."

** Rod wants to know if LBs will be important this weekend. "They run the ball very well."

FOURTH COMMERCIAL BREAK

Dan emailed this question ... and he got a nickel for his effort. OK, it was $20. He wants to know if the cowbells affect how the Tigers prepare. "On the road in our league, it's going to be loud. It's great that we have an indoor -- we can shut the door and turn up the music."

** Rod says getting the plays in isn't that big of a deal. Gus says they prefer non-verbal communications.

** Bruce emails in, wants to know about Moncrief. "He's getting more comfortable with the defense. He's also a very good tackler."

** Bruce wants Gus to provide his offensive game plan. Brilliant. Gus just talks about how good MSU is. "They've got a full team."

** Rod wants to talk about DAK PRESCOTT again. "He's a good leader."

** Rod wants to talk about the MSU RB: "He's a complete back."

(Why even ask those questions?)

** Rod thinks experience will matter on Saturday. "(Kansas State) was a close game; they had to find a way to win. I'm hoping that experience will help."

FIFTH COMMERCIAL BREAK

** Rod wants to know the anatomy of their draws. Gus said it was a standard play. "It was close to a five-yard hole."

** Some dude wants to know about Rudy Ford, the RUDE DOG. "He gets better each game. And he can really run. He's got a chance to be a big-time player."

** Rod says RUDE DOG has a lot of PHYSICALITY: "He's a football player. Experience will help him greatly."

** Rod says MSU is very similar to Auburn. "They're a very good team. The last three times I've gone against Mississippi State, it's come down to the final drive."

** Now Rod wants to know about differences. "He does a good job with his play-action. He does a good job with the quarterback runs."

** Gus says MSU's defense is really good, says the front is "huge." He said this defense looks to be the best "on film."

** Rod says the team that wins in the trenches will win the game. "It's that way in every SEC game."

** Rod wants to know what Gus will tell the kids in Starkville. "I'm not a big rah-rah guy. I talk about the keys and what we need to focus on during that first half."

THAT'S A WRAP. (Bruce Pearl will close out the show, but we just posted a long interview with him.)
