I started reading those books around 1997... stopped at about book 7. Life, time, and interest kept me from going any further in the series of 14 books (I don't know if that is the final book or not, but assume so since it was released in 2013.)

I remember thinking how cool it would be if they made a movie/mini-series of the 1st couple of books, but never imagined the special effects or platform/streaming services that would need to be advanced and created to get it to this point.

I watched the 1st two episodes Sat and Sunday night. For not having read the stories in such a long time there were things I remembered and things I noticed that I knew were different than the books.

Overall impression was Pretty dang good. The special effects and finished product thus far has it on par (or just slightly below) a Lord of the Rings movie. I'm also a fan of the casting. There are a couple of characters I'm not sold on yet, but I will give it some time before I make a opinion.

I try to tamp my expectations down for fear of being disappointed, but I couldn't help but be anxious for the show.

Thus far, so far so good. I just hope it stays that way.
