I was really close to going tonight, but kind of glad I didnt. Work interfered and the atmosphere seemed lackluster. Also, hate the feel of these type games where you win, but still don't feel good about it.

We were way too quick to ease up and relax tonight....staff included. Starters coasting and experimental lineups allowed Texas to make this thing interesting. Road wins in the SEC are at a premium, but we weren't very convincing tonight. However, we did make the necessary plays every single time Texas got close.

If I'm coaching against us, I would deny all passes and force our guards to create. Denver struggles at it, Tahaad makes shaky passes and questionable driving decisions, and it derails our offensive action. Every time Texas did this, we milled around til late in the shot clock. Chad was the only guy who put the ball on the floor and scored in this situation. The backdoor action is a counter to this and I expect we'll see it more. I also think you'll start seeing some flare action to the corners.

If I'm coaching Auburn (and I'm not), offense isn't my focus as we still scored 87. This team is too gifted defensively to allow 82. We got away with some reaches and hacks early that resulted in turnovers, but flat out did not care to stay in front of the ball in the second half. Again, I think we shut it down. They say defense travels, but not if the focus and effort isn't there and it wasn't for long stretches.

Upcoming schedule isn't a killer so I expect more of the same until the Tennessee game. We're the best team in the country when we're on. Just hope we're not developing bad habits that will cost us down the road.
