Those guys are really, really good and they have all the pieces you could want. Elite pg, elite shooter, long and physical bigs, size and scoring off the bench, defense and toughness everywhere. That was a great team win on a night we struggled to put the ball in the hole. That was a great team win on prime time as well.

We were so locked in defensively tonight and holding a team to 51 should always get you a win. We've been really good at bothering shooters all year and did it again by holding Lanier to only 10. Bruce said on GameDay that whoever won the rebounding battle would win the game. We got five extra possessions on offensive boards and that's your difference in this one. Despite having average athleticism, Johni is such a good instinctual rebounder. He just knows where the ball is going and gets to it.

Offensively, this was a struggle. Tennessee pushed our offense back with ball pressure and it disrupted everything we do. They bothered us and made people uncomfortable all night. Our guards are going to have to do a better job of creating for each other (I say this after every game) and they need to draw fouls at the rim. Not enough kickouts and way too much avoiding contact at the rim. Hopefully Broome being back and more healthy will make life a lot easier moving forward.

This has the feel of one of those charmed seasons. Our guys either run the other team out the door or will their way to victory. Tonight was the latter and a huge win. I'll be in Baton Rouge Wednesday to hopefully see another one.
