I know it's kind of been ruined due to conference realignment, but no mid-majors in the Sweet 16 seems odd to me. I'm sure it's happened before and probably been recent, just seems odd.
Last year there were 5. In 2023 there were 7. In 2022 there were 4. By my count all of the mid-major teams that were in the sweet 16 the last 3 years are still mid-major teams. I didn't count Houston, because I couldn't remember off-hand when they moved to the Big 12. To go from at least 25% mid-majors to none in the Sweet-16 is a big drop, IMO.
