One of the best wins of the Bruce era tonight. Playing without the most dominant player in the country against a great Mississippi State team that was desperate for a big win, this should have been a 40 minute war that we would be lucky to survive. Instead, our guys came out on fire in front of the jungle as electric as I've ever heard it. Destroying a top 15 team without Broome proves we are the #1 team in the country. Tonight also demonstrated why the jungle is the toughest place in the country to play. Losing Broome for however many games is unfortunate, but this may be what we look back on as the development that caused this team to reach its ceiling. Winning in the SEC without Broome is forcing every other guy on the roster to elevate their game. When he returns, we will be drastically better and every guy on the roster will know that Broome is our star, but this team is great even when he doesn't play a minute.

Chad came out playing like a man possessed tonight. He was complete unconscious in the first half. Per Evan Miya, Chad is the #4 player in the SEC and the #12 player in the country. He proved that is true tonight. Chad would be one of the biggest stars in the country this year if Broome was not getting most of the attention on our team. He is unstoppable when he's playing like he did in the first half where he nearly single-handedly buried the bulldogs. Thank goodness Bruce didn't listen to the folks who wanted to kick him off the team after the Yale game.

Chaney had the most pressure of anyone on the team tonight as he stepped into Broome's enormous shoes. He answered the bell in emphatic fashion. 17 points, 8 boards and 4 blocks is a massive stat line that could easily be mistaken from Johni if you looked at the stat sheet with the names covered up. What an incredible transformation from early last season where he struggled to adjust at times to now playing like one of the best players in the best conference in the history of the sport.

Tahaad was huge in the second half when the rest of the team was in a scoring lull. His first run with 2 3s and a layup was big. Then he brought down the house with one of the greatest dunks in Auburn history for my money. A full windmill at his size is about as good as it gets. He's made huge strides over the course of the season and still has room to grow the next 2 months. He has all the tools needed to help this team do legendary things.

Special seasons come along periodically in football, basketball and baseball. We're fortunate they seem to come along pretty frequently under Bruce. This is already one of those seasons. How special remains to be seen, but tonight proved to me that this group has what it takes to hang banners.
