Underperformance in winnable games (Mizzou, OU, Arkansas and Cal). Game planning was a culprit mainly bc we never adapted to what our QB could and couldn’t do consistently. We also under utilized Hunter for half the season.
With that said, Freeze wasn’t the one throwing the picks. That’s all Thorne. Were it me, I would’ve gone young and we probably still would be 5-7/6-6 but at least we have a future developing.
Special teams was abysmal and ST coach should be fired. We need to place an emphasis on a punter who can actually flip the field. McPherson being back next year would be huge.
Defense was the surprise of the year. A few more key additions at LB and DL and we may have something special building under Durkin.
Given how things started we had no blowout losses and the team didn’t quit. Just never figured out how to win. Takes more than people think in a rebuild.
No sense in dwelling on what’s happened. Take our lumps like adults and move on. Recruit, upgrade and develop.
