RECRUITING Recruiting Notebook (01.16.23)

Lots to be expected within the next two weeks for recruiting, as a contact period (Jan. 13-28) is just getting underway. Recruits are able to visit campus and coaches are able to travel for in-person contact. Jan. 29 is a quiet period, where recruits can only visit the institution.

From there, Jan. 30-Feb. 28 is a dead period. No in-person contact can be made. So buckle up, it's gonna be a busy couple of weeks.

That being said, Auburn is expecting several visitors today. That list includes, but is not limited to:

• Malik Blocton, 2024 DE from Pike Road, Ala. (CONFIRMED on campus)
  • Visited Auburn for every home game last season
  • Brother is DL Marcus Harris
  • Other visits planned to Florida (Jan. 21), Clemson (Jan. 28)

• Malachi Toliver, 2024 OL from Cartersville, Ga. (CONFIRMED on campus)

  • Visited twice last season (Sept. 10 and Nov. 19)

Ok, stupid question. Does the dead period apply to possible portal transfers?

Yes, but portal players have about 72 hours left to find a home if they want to go through classes and spring at a new school.
After Jan 18, the recruiting period is still active but it will all be about 23 players (not many left) and 24 players on unofficials.
But the recruiting calendar still applies to all. Take LB Nick Jackson, for example, staying at UVA until he graduates in May. He can return to Auburn on unofficials any time the calendar has an Active or Quiet Period. He could also take an OV to Auburn in April or May during an allowed perriod if the mutual interest is still there.

Toliver is a great kid and strong as an Ox. His O-line Coach told me last week he's been offered by every SEC School except the turds and UGAY. He'll be a 4 Star by the end of this Season.
