too many "3,000 passer" stuff in the auburn circles nowadays so heres some better stats to look at

#1 = Attempts

more attempts doesnt mean youre a "great sec qb" but you aint gonna reach 3,000 yards with less than 300 attempts. even a good qb + elite talent like jalen milroes stituation only got to 2,500 yards

paytons best season at mich st he had 340 attempts. probably need to get himback to that level again

#2- Yards Per Attempt

this is probably the clearest seperation between "GOOD QBs" and "BAD QBs" in the SEC

the good ones have 8+ yards per attempt. the bad ones are 7.5 and under

a lotta stuff goes into that like wr corp and such. paytons only ever reached above it in 2022 (8.4 puts him somewhere betwee brady cook and weigman/mertz. feels about right with how i see thornes ceiling)

#3 DROP%

this one not so much on the QBs but shows a lot about the WR CORP affecting qb play. the good qbs usually got wrs helping em

MERTZ and JEFFERSON stats might be a lil inflated cuz they had good wrs helping them (1ST ROUNDER PEARSALL for mertz not there anymore + andrew armstrong at ARKY)

interesting fact about arky, they only dropped 10 PASSES the entirety of last season! fairweather almost covered that himself with 6 drops (13.5% drop rate). elite wrs in this league rarely drop it at all (typically 2 or less all year unless extremely high target shares like nabers/burden)
