Just watched some spring practice. Here are some notes that I took while out there.

OFFENSE
  • First Team (12 personnel set): QB Jackson Arnold, RB Jeremiah Cobb/Damari Alston, LT Izavion Miller, LG Dillon Wade, C Bradyn Joiner, RG Jeremiah Wright, RT Mason Murphy, WR Cam Coleman, Eric Singleton Jr., TE Brandon Frazier, TE Rico Walker
  • Second Team (10 personnel set): QB Deuce Knight, RB Alvin Henderson, LT Favour Edwin, LG DeAndre Carter, C Dylan Senda, RG, Seth Wilfred, RT Tyler Johnson, WR Sam Turner, WR Malcolm Simmons, WR Horatio Fields, WR Perry Thompson
  • TE Preston Howard bulldozed Sylvester Smith on a block downfield during 7-on-7. I've heard that's one thing that Howard's good at — he'll punch you in the mouth on a block.
  • Jackson Arnold connected with Eric Singleton Jr., who had lost every defender and was wide open.
  • Alvin Henderson had a nice run where he found a hole and got through the defense (he was working against second team defense).
  • Jackson Arnold had a nice run on a designed QB draw during the 11-on-11 period.
  • Jackson Arnold rolled to his left and made a nice throw on his offside, connecting with freshman WR Sam Turner.
  • Tai Buster, who was projected as a guard, is starting to see some time at left tackle. He's working with the third team, but subbed in for Favour Edwin with the second team for a play when Edwin jumped early.
  • Sam Turner is looking good. He turned around on a. back shoulder throw from Deuce and just flat out beat Kaleb Harris for the ball. Harris had good coverage, but Turner made the play. Not long afterward, Turner beat Kayin Lee on a deep route and scored on a Jackson Arnold DIME. I mean, right in the basket.
  • Cam Coleman beat Raion Strader on a deep ball and made an over the shoulder catch. Deuce threw it.
  • Deuce Knight consistently puts the ball where it needs to be. Had a great throw to Malcolm Simmons on an out route, where only Simmons could catch it.
  • Jackson Arnold scrambled to his right, threw on the run and connected with Perry Thompson downfield, who had worked back to help Arnold out.
DEFENSE
  • First Team: CB Raion Strader, CB Kayin Lee, DL Malik Blocton, DL Dallas Walker IV, DE Amaris Williams, BUCK Keyron Crawford, LB Xavier Atkins, LB Elijah Melendez, S Anquon Fegans, S Kensley Louidor-Faustin, NICK Kaleb Harris
  • Second Team: CB Blake Woodby, CB Donovan Starr, DL Zykeivous Walker, DL Quientrail Jamison-Travis, DL Malik Autry/BUCK Jared Smith, DE Chris Murray, LB Bryce Deas, LB DJ Barber, S Terrance Love, S Eric Winters, NICK Sylvester Smith
    • Note: Jared Smith went in for Malik Autry, Smith played BUCK when he went in.
  • Anquon Fegans nearly picked off Jackson Arnold at one point.
  • Sylvester Smith made a nice play to get to the QB on a blitz, would have been a sack.
  • Malik Blocton broke through the OL and stuffed Damari Alston in the backfield.
  • Dallas Walker IV got his hand up and had a pass deflection. Deuce Knight threw the ball.
  • Sylvester Smith stayed with Eric Singleton Jr. and made a good play on the ball, getting his hand in front of hit and knocking it down on an out route.
  • Freshman Anquon Fegans was matched up with Eric Singleton Jr. at one point and had a nice pass deflection.
  • Kayin Lee denied Cam Coleman a one-handed catch, he had really good coverage.
NOTE FROM HUGH FREEZE (COURTESY BMATT)
  • Calls the 11-on-11 period Tiger Ball, said it was as dirty as it had been today. They installed three new things and it was just so-so.
