For reference purposes, my job is very forward facing and I interact with both current and potential customers constantly, mostly otp but in person quite a bit as well.
Most of our clients are great, and while we have a few that are pretty needy or demanding they’re still pretty reasonable and in the case of some of the ouldes that come in I think they’re just looking for someone to talk to and I’m happy to oblige. I am genuinely eager to work with and help our clients in any way that I can.
But… there is a specific group of people that I find myself wanting to avoid interacting with at all cost, Indians. Specifically Hindu Indians. Based on what I’ve seen online, I am def not the only one who feels this way. If it’s a sales call, there is without exception incessant haggling over the prices and questions of “why are you trying to fvck me?” when I cannot move the price down any further or cannot offer them an employee discount. If they’re a current customer, they’re either calling in or stopping by the office 24/7 to scream and demand their price be reduced and I genuinely get the feeling they view me as subhuman or something. Indians are the only people that go out of their way to be rude, treat me like shit, and talk to me like I’m some kind of medieval peasant. I really enjoy my job and interacting with all different kinds of people, but I’m at a loss as to what the best way to go about working with Indians is and I’ve already come close to losing my temper on several of them and I am extremely cool-headed.
Anybody on the bourde have similar experiences or any advice they can give in dealing with the issue? Assuming there’s something I can change on my end to handle it more effectively. I’m not sure just avoiding them is an option either as their population is legit exploding in north GA right now and I don’t see it stopping, especially if the Trump admin ends up expanding H1B visas.
