one of, if not the most, criminal rackets ran by the state (especially Alabama)? You pay taxes upfront when you purchase a vehicle, then the state decides what your vehicle is "worth" each year and then charges you an additional tax to simply drive your vehicle. The act of NOT charging everyone the same flat rate is simply criminal....and then it's managed by a bunch of dumbasses at the state and county levels.
