Just before tipoff and during the last TV Timeout of the game (under 4:00 official timeout), their band plays their '4th qtr' football song. The ENTIRE crowd stands up and holds up 4 fingers as if they are at a football game.
The lack of basketball understanding was evident. One idiot screamed THATS A FOUL!! a minimum of 3 times on every offensive possession. Another clueless moron ran out of things to yell and was so demoralized after the wave of highlights from Mustapha and Co. that he resorted to yelling 'TRY HARDDEERRR!' over and over at his beloved Dawgs late in the 2nd half. It was pretty pathetic.
These dumb hicks then cannot figure out why they cannot attract top level talent. It is because their fanbase doesn't know how to 'basketball'. The arena was packed out but the crowd was pretty terrible TBH. I know they are a sinking ship but for a rival ranked in the Top 10 in the building, it was a very weak showing by the students and fans. Not hostile at all. There was more hatred being spewed at their own team/coaches than at BRUCE & teh boys.
Anyhoo, just a reminder that when the calendar changes from October to November, we all need to remember to shift into basketball mode. We need to do our part as well and continue to progress as a basketball fanbase to help sustain this success.
