We lost to aTm - because we were celebrating locking up the conference championship 2 games early Saturday Night, and left Monday for Texas. Oh, And were without our PG - against a coach who is 6-2 against us in the greatest stretch in program history.
We lost to Bama - because they are a great team, and although we totally shut down their high octane Guards (yet again), Grant Nelson had the game of his life, and our expert perimeter defenders botched one switch on the last play of the game.
We lost to Tennessee - because we couldn’t hit 3s (neither could they), but mainly because a 70% FT shooting team shot 93% while our 73% FT shooting team shot 56%
Then, we didn’t get up for a 1-16 matchup in the first half in a weekday game in a mostly empty gym.
Also, this is not a team chock full of NBA talent like 06-07 UF or ‘14-‘15 UK. It’s possible we played well over our heads at times this year.
Although there are a few things not trending the way we had hoped, I don’t think we should shut down the program just yet. We are still a Final 4 team, just have to avoid stepping on our own dicks, and even then we can’t always control when an opponent has a career night.
