Yesterday evening and last night I kept hearing dispatch repeatedly make patrols reiterated they will "not engage".
That pretty much sums up how the night went. I'm sure it may have prevented an escalation such as we saw in Ferguson. That is what the Mayor was referring to when she said there would be areas for them to destroy. Stand back and allow them to destroy because when the cops get involved people get killed.
Is this better than the alternative of enforcing the laws? Let them destroy property because enforcing the laws with make them angrier? Sounds like it's just another way of relieving people of accountability for their actions.
