I recently started an Ancestry account, and it's become my obsession and my entire personality. My mother's family is Italian and English, and I found immigration documents for her grandparents coming to the US through Ellis Island in 1898. It's fascinating.
Anyway, my Grandfather was the youngest of 6 boys and 3 girls. All the boys were athletic, especially ol Uncle Raymond Cagni. He played every sport in high school, played football at West Virginia for a year, then played baseball and basketball at Stetson in Florida in the late 1930s. Went to war, came back and became a high school coach and teacher.
In 1952-53, he coached football at Miami Technical High School, and I found the yearbook online.
The fella above him on the yearbook page sure looked familiar. It's none other than Gene Chizik Sr.
Forgive me, as I am yet to figure out how to paste a photo into the post (it keeps telling me image cannot be linked). But hopefully this actual link worked.
Gene Jr really is a copy-paste of his dad, isn't he?!
Uncle Ray and Coach Chiz
