not trying to tell anybody else what to think or how to feel….
This Auburn basketball team may or may not win it’s next game (I hope they win that one and more)…..but if they don’t, here’s what they’ve already done…
- Won 30 games, tying the record of 30 wins the 2019 team finished with, including post season play….but against the toughest schedule any Auburn basketball team has ever played
- Won another SEC regular season championship
- Stayed #1 in the AP Poll for 8 consecutive weeks
- Garned more national attention from the national media and talking heads than any Auburn basketball team in program history
- Became the #1 overall seed in the 2025 NCAA Tournament
- Reached the Sweet 16
- Has 18 Quad 1 wins now (I know tournament wins don’t actually count as Quad 1 wins but it’s still an achievement no other Auburn basketball team has ever accomplished)
So….here’s my opinion….if this team doesn’t reach the Elite 8, Final Four, or win the national title, I can and will live with that and still consider this team, with all its personalities and (perceived by some) warts….the best Auburn basketball team ever as well as my all-time favorite Auburn basketball team.
Having said that, I will still yell and scream at my television next week during periods of our game (or games) when we don’t play perfect, error free basketball. That’s just part of being a fan, I believe…..as well as being an ex-player (at a lower level, of course) who never made any mistakes…or lost a game.
