Smaller countries can afford to micro manage where the US cannot. Are these ideas similar to what we call the citizenship test or do they go further?
Some of those progressive Europeans seem like they understand the possible downfalls of large areas densely made up of one culture refusing to learn new customs and norms and want to help them join the culture of the country giving them food and shelter...and are willing to hold that over their heads for refusing to learn. I see positives and negatives but it's interesting either way.
