How are the last two years at Auburn different? There is no question Hugh is the right man for the job as I type this right now, but I’ve pondered this question a good bit and I truly wonder if we could have effectively used Kevin (and paid him handsomely to do it) as a bridge before turning things over to Hugh.
You might ask yourself why did we need a bridge as opposed to just going straight to Freeze, well given the landscape at the NCAA at the time and the fact that the FBI case hadn’t quite been adjudicated yet, I think there was some concern that hiring Freeze might irritate NCAA enforcement personnel who we needed to keep in our good graces at that moment.
So if your open to it, I’d love to hear the Bunker’s thoughts on what would have happened if Kevin Steele had gotten the nod the day the Boosters pushed for it to happen, or are you content with the entertainment the Harsin era brought to the Plains?
