It's been reported multiple times on here his mom has cancer and that is why he stayed scout team most of the year.

He was probably going to transfer next year if he didn't win the job, but his mom may have made him decide to be closer to home now. I know I wouldn't want to be 10 hours away if my mom had a debilitating disease.
