Hugh Freeze spoke during Wednesday's SEC teleconference. Here's a summary...
** We're excited for another opportunity but disappointed we didn't play well Saturday. Arkansas played at a high level. We're working on the things that are hurting us in games and getting them corrected.
** On Cam Coleman not being 100%: I think he'll be closer to 100% this week. HIs injury and not getting the normal number of reps in practice hurt him in not playing up to his expectations. He went through all the reps yesterday but still in non-contact jersey.
** When the QB position struggles and you're trying to find answers and help them, that's a real concern. We're trying to show them all the good they're doing and the need to eliminate a few things. They're not far off. You take those turnovers away, we're all feeling differently. We're going to have open dialogue about it. Focusing this week on them keeping the confidence level they need to have against Oklahoma. Both are pretty mentally strong, which is a good thing.
** On Bo Wallace's Tweet: I'm not on social media anymore. Don't know everything. Did talk with Bo and love him and wish nothing but the best for him. He's probably the most important recruit I ever had at Ole Miss. He's doing a great job coaching now.
** Oklahoma is one of the better defenses he's seen. They go after the ball. The INT's can be cleaned up by better accuracy, better decisions and better coaching. Well continue to work ball security and emphasize it with the running backs in practice.
** Receivers have had ball security issues in practice but haven't fumbled in games. Running backs have been good in practice but it hasn't showed up in games. We don't tackle live a whole lot anymore in practice either.
** On NIL and UNLV issue: Freeze doesn't know what's going on at UNLV. Those of us that are older and built culture on team chemistry and the locker room, that's become tougher in this new era. Still trying to figure out best way to do it. Ole Miss and Missouri are doing it very well right now. Freeze said he's constantly trying to manage it and be upfront and honest with his players. Players have to see it as a blessing regardless if another player is making more. Transfers are an issue because it's good for young men to work through becoming a better player. That's out of our hands now.
