For the final time this season, we are about to talk to Hugh Freeze after Auburn lost its last game of the season to Alabama.
Guys, I'm just the messenger, pls don't kill me - I'm a good guy sometimes

  • "Obviously disappointed tonight, disappointing season. The ones who have played their last game of college football -- we have some special young men. I hate to see them not go out on a high note... hate to see them hurting the way they are currently."
  • Added that the way the vets handled adversity was great for the younger guys on the team
  • On the red zone blunders: "Should've been a different game. Put those in the end zone when we had the opportunity... had Dre open, we just missed it."
  • He said he regretted going tempo on that third down
  • "The difference in the game was their ability to stay on the field on third down and us not being able to score touchdowns in the red zone."
  • "Trick play, we obviously didn't coach it well enough." Said that the ball should have been thrown back to Payton on the screen
  • On the third down defense: "We're thin and you could tell, we were gassed at times."
  • Jay Crawford going out: "Hurt for sure losing him." Mentioned that he hasn't seen an injury report or anything there.
  • Asked about hitting the portal, Freeze said it's impossible to predict what the roster will look like
  • More on that: "We're going to try and sign the best high school class we can next week... the first priority is let's get this signing class in."
  • On signing day: "It's hard to say. You feel optimistic about everything we've done, but how in the heck do you know in today's times? You've just got to work... I feel pretty good about most of our relationships, but again, you never really know."
  • "We think we're improving with a lot of young kids that are talented."
  • Freeze pointed out that teams like Alabama have had top-5 classes multiple years in a row.
  • Asked about losses like this happening a few times this season: "Humbling. Frustrating... I'm big on not getting your identity from a scoreboard and I want our players to understand that... I don't think 20 years from now they'll think about the wins and losses... ultimately, I hope that they become true Auburn men in life."
  • Asked about Brian Battie, he said that bringing him was a surprise to the team and that it was good to see him walking.
That's all for Hugh
