** Opens congratulating Bruce Pearl and the Auburn basketball team. A true team, playing to their strengths and playing their best in the biggest game says a lot.
** Coaches and players excited to start today.
** Daquan Newkirk (foot), Jordyn Peters (foot), Smoke Monday (shoulder) will miss spring practice with injuries. Will Hastings also out after surgery last fall.
** Quarterback competition wide open, no timetable on decision. Going live is a possibility.
** Won't scrimmage this Saturday but will the next two. Will go in pads for the first time Friday.
** Cadillac is going to let the running backs show him what they can do. All those guys have a chance to compete.
** Coach McGriff has great energy, relates well to players. Doesn't have any bad days. Did take but a day to get him back in swing of things. Already knows a lot of players.
** Late start to spring gave the players two extra weeks with Ryan Russell and staff.
** Alec Jackson will start out at tackle. Price Tega made a similar move about this time in his career. Worked out well.
** Harold Joiner will play some running back, will move around this spring. He's versatile.
** Excited about Eli Stove being back. Dynamic player, big spring for him to get back in the swing of things.
** Matthew Hill is a guy that came in with high expectations. Has grown, maturity level different than last year. In a good spot, determined to have a good spring.
** Devan Barrett will play corner this spring. Started to come on in bowl practice. Excited about him, ready for him to take the next step.
** Going to do our best this spring of keeping 11 guys on the field on offense without making substitutions. Want to play as fast as we can.
** Will be fairly bland with offense early just to make sure the quarterbacks get going. Add more in as spring goes on.
** Once we figure out the starting quarterback, we'll build offense around his strengths.
** Excited to be out there today coaching football and being a football coach.
