Gus Malzahn is doing a teleconference with the beat writers today. I'll provide a summary in this thread. Click refresh, will continue to update...

** Started player meeting and install meeting for football over zoom. Went well. Great to see everybody together and interact. Will do six spring installs before April 20.

** Can do fball related things for 2 hours a week. Expecting it to grow by a few hours in future.

** Dead period pushed back. Few challenges with that.

** All players, coaches, families healthy right now.

** Academic meeting have gone well.

** Coach Russell has sent out weekly workout plans. Have to be flexible. Some guys have weights at home, some don't. Sent out 2 plans. Players run three times a week. Got to be flexible.

** Coming up with different plays to return 6/1, 6/15, 7/1, 7/15, etc. Just looking at all the what-ifs so we're ready when we come back.

** Have not had discussions with Allen Greene or staff about potential pay cuts at this time.

** Got to get guys back in shape before you start practices. New situation with guys not actively working out with us. NCAA is really considering that -- health and safety important. Not sure how long it would take once they return.

** Not speculating on possibility of not having football season. Right now, working on plans when they return, not looking past 7/15 right now.

** Having a returning starter at QB is an advantage in this situation. How big of an advantage will be determined by how long we have with our players.

** Gus expecting all players to return and signees to report. On track and looking good.

** Talking through position changes. Sheffield and Hill are possibilities to move to DB. No final decision yet.

** T-Will is great coach, very creative, relates to kids, doing super job in recruiting coordinator role.

** Weekly schedule: Monday staff meeting via zoom. Daily schedule for recruiting and communicating with players. Gus has admin meeting during week. Has another staff meeting on Friday and a recruiting meeting right after on Friday. Assistant coaches are meeting everyday.

** Before players left, worked hard in weight room/mat drills on players being accountable to each other. Have a bunch of young guys that needed to take next step. had six mat drills. Saw improvement. Felt like they were going to have a good spring before everything was cancelled.

** Malzahn is not concerned with any schools having a competitive advantage during this time. The biggest thing is making sure they're focused on academics. He would like a little more time to discuss football with his players, an hour or two would be appropriate.

** Our position coaches are talking to our players everyday.

** Malzahn said most of his guys are at home. Exchange students in all sports were allowed to stay on campus. Killian is on campus, the JC offensive tackle. He can't run full speed yet but getting better.

** Biggest difference for him now, more time in evenings. Gus has watching more TV than in past.

** Coordinators already have head start on game planning and breaking down opponents for next year.

** Gus has family in Oklahoma and remembers Joe Exotic running for governor. "That was interesting."

** He said the zoom installs are a lot like spring. A lot of questions/answers. Started with Day 1, next time they meet it's Day 2.

*****THAT'S ALL*****
