win for Huntsville/Madison County and north Alabama...
Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos has selected Huntsville for a new production site for his Blue Origin Company which will make newly designed rocket engines for most all of NASA's current and future space flight programs. The U.S., once this plant is up and running, will no longer have to depend on Russia for trips back into space.
NASA and Huntsville are back in the space business.
This was a highly competitive procurement and the state, our elected representatives, the cities of Huntsville and Madison....and many others worked long and hard on this project and now it's coming to Huntsville. Lots of smiles on the announcement stage today....more jobs, more $$$$$$$$ coming to Huntsville and there's little doubt that this Jeff Bezos owned company will grow from 350 employees to 2-3 times that amount (or more) over the next few years.
We'll need more roads, schools, doctors, nurses, and hospital rooms folks....we are already short in those areas as Huntsville continues to grow....
