BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Auburn senior Brendan Valdes was named Southeastern Conference Golfer of the Week after a record-smashing performance at the General Hackler Championship where he led the No. 1 Tigers to a second consecutive victory while also earning low medalist for the third time in his career.

Valdes finished 12-under at the Hackler, shooting 67-72-65 to win by one stroke. He accumulated 14 birdies and two eagles over the three rounds.

In Sunday’s opener, Valdes made history as the program’s new leader for career rounds below par as he recorded his 69th to break a three-way tie with Jovan Rebula (2016-21) and J.M. Butler (2020-24).

The Orlando, Florida native propelled the Tigers to a 17-shot victory as they clinched their third tournament title of the season (East Lake Cup, Southern Highlands Collegiate, General Hackler Championship).

This week marks the fifth time Valdes has been recognized as one of the league’s players of the week.

Auburn returns to action March 24-25, at the Valspar Collegiate hosted by The Floridian in Palm City, Florida for a tournament that features nine top-25 teams, including five of the top eight.
