BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Auburn senior Carson Bacha was named the Southeastern Conference Golfer of the Week Wednesday following his impressive outing at the Southern Highlands Collegiate where he led the Tigers to a runaway victory in Las Vegas.
It is the second time Bacha has earned conference weekly honors in his career.
At Southern Highlands, he finished second individually, shooting 71-74-64 for a 7-under 209, cementing himself as Auburn’s low scorer for the third consecutive tournament. Thanks to Bacha’s efforts, the Tigers claimed a 10-shot victory, and bested the nearest SEC team by 28 shots.
Bacha’s final round 64 (-8) held up as the lowest round of the tournament by three strokes. He turned in a clean card with 11 pars, birdies on 3, 4, 5, 6, 9 and 15 as well as an eagle on 13.
With his final birdie of the first round, on the par-4 14th, the York, Pennsylvania native also recorded his 400th career birdie, becoming just the 11th player in program history to do so.
The Tigers return to action March 16-18 at the General Hackler Championship hosted by The Dunes Club in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
