Auburn coach Hugh Freeze spoke during Wednesday afternoon's SEC teleconference. Here's a summary...
** Kentucky is a tough place to play. UK plays hard. Going to be tough challenge for young kids. Excited to play SEC opponent on the road in a good environment.
** We try to make practice as chaotic as you can to prepare for a road game. We huddled a lot more at Georgia. It made it chaotic for UGA every day. We split it up this week, normal Tuesday and next two will be chaotic.
** The UK-UF game was an outlier for UK. Give UF credit for their explosive plays and how well they played. Other teams are putting up near those numbers against the UK defense. Offensively, they're really well coached and know how to manage a game.
** Every single game we've lost with maybe the exception of UGA, we had a realistic chance of winning and we haven't found a way to do that. Never had a season where not a single game hasn't gone our way in the end. It's hard to put your finger on it. Proud of the effort. But at some point we've got to grow up an learn how to win and I've got to coach them to give them the confidence to play to win.
** Really pleased with Bobby Jamison-Travis. Great kid. Playing well right now. Has a great future.
** OL DeAndre Carter got some reps with the 1's yesterday. It's a concern going up against a defense that gives you so many looks. But you could see him getting some opportunities.
** Made a decision to coach AU's players hard in the off-week. If we lose a kid because we coach them hard, we're probably not going to win with them anyway. We're not going to demean kids, but we're going to coach them hard. The good ones should want that.
