Overspent his NIL funds to gather talent over the last two seasons. He was then forced to pay a lot to retain the roster from years 1 and 2 that we wanted to keep. He is a good recruiter, but only as good as the money offered. This is a new age. The new settlement only allows 20.5 million for all sports, and $6,000 must go to every scholarship athlete. This figure and basketball, baseball, and other sports come off the 20.5. Freeze took NIL money from baseball and basketball to retain the roster and hold last year's class. They still both won big. He has still won nothing.

The independent clearing house will allow additional money to be paid to athletes from collectives, but it must be real and earnings-based.

Freeze overspent, and when the 20.50 million was put into play, he had been spending his and other sports money. The money deal will end up being tricky for all schools but we have got upside down on on current football budget.
