I was happy when he left Alabama to return to the NFL.....not becasue I thought he was going to dominate there as Bryant had....although Dye's losses to him in '84 and '85 still are stuck in my craw. His disdain for Auburn and everything that was Auburn had led to a really caustic and confrontational environment between Auburn and Alabama in my opinion. Thought it was reaching the point of becoming something potentially dangerous when he left for the NFL.
